The Mission of the non-profit organization Dreams Go On is to provide therapeutic horseback riding sessions to adults and children who are physically challenged, receive mental health, behavioral health or family therapy services. Certified instructors and dedicated volunteers teach responsibility, trust, rules, patience, compassion, self-confidence, teamwork, and safety.
Dreams Go On, Inc. provides an individualized therapeutic
horseback riding program for Riders in BlairCounty
who have physical and/or emotional challenges.
We are presently located at 3085
Scotch Valley Road in Hollidaysburg. We enjoy
sixty plus Riders per year and provide four 6 week Riding Sessions., tailored
to the needs of our Rider’s.
Dreams Go On, Inc. will be moving from our present location
on Saturday October 26, 2013. There are
a variety of jobs that need to be completed before we can continue to operate
our quality therapeutic horseback riding program. The wood has been purchased and
a Team from Warnaco, Duncansville, began the process last month on a
Volunteer/Work Program. We were grateful
for their hard work and talents but 5 hours did not allow us the time to
complete these projects:
*Almost 2 horse stalls were completed & there are 2 more
to begin. This job entails laying the
treated wood (which is purchased and at the barn) on the floors only and is an
update not a new venture. We were using screws on this job but I am now out
& need to purchase more.
*The indoor arena is large and we need to have bottom kick
boards around the ring for safety of the horse & rider. The larger half of this ring is complete and
can be used as a guide to finish the smaller half. The wood is there and has
been cut and is lying in front of the wall it fits, ready to be nailed in
place. We were using a nail gun from Warnaco so we will need to purchase nails
and/or obtain another nail gun.
*We have not even begun to build the wheelchair ramp inside
the indoor arena. Detailed plans are
available for the ramp and wood has also been purchased for this project but we
were not able to even begin. This
project can also be completed between October and February (we begin our 2014
Riding Season in early March). Again nails or screws and/or a nail gun will
need to be obtained.
*We also have a large sign with our name on that needs to be
moved from our present address to our new address, hopefully before our ‘Sneak
Peek at our New Facility/Hayride’ on Saturday, October 26th.
Much has already been accomplished and more will be covered
over the winter but we are not carpenters.
If you can provide any help, please give me a call and I can talk with
you – possibly I can arrange a work day with a group? Any ideas or suggestions, will be
We thank you in advance for thinking of Dreams Go On!
